Photogrammetry & Scanning
True-to-scale 3D reconstruction of structures, sites and objects from imagery.
Photogrammetry, gaussian splats and 3D models, captured from real places or built from scratch. For heritage, planning and creative work.
Photogrammetry is a big part of what I do here. By visually documenting an object or place with hundreds of scans, photos and videos you can build a powerful dataset in order to reconstruct that item as a highly accurate reference standard twin 3D object. This process is the most thorough way to digitally preserve the real world and is especially powerful for documenting change, capturing fleeting heritage or moments in time. The by-products of this process are lots of images of every angle of the objective, and highly technical reconstructions. I can turn these into meshes, models, website, illustrations and so on. Gaussian splatting is a newer method of rendering which excels in certain cases, I have included a sample mesh and splat viewer below.
Two captures you can handle yourself — a photogrammetry mesh and a Gaussian splat, from real Devon projects. Click to load, then drag to move around.
I also build models from scratch when there's nothing to photograph, like recreating something that's no longer standing. Either way you get a file made for the job: a web viewer, a model you can measure, or something ready to 3D print.
Being a highly technical artist, I am an experienced programmer as well, so I build my own software. Sky Relics itself is built on lots of custom software to help me manage my projects, injest and edit footage, and management. Frame Filter, for getting clean frames out of video for photogrammetry, is free powerful app on my tools page.

Photoreal scenes captured on site that you can move around in.
Dense measured data for survey, planning and inspection.
Models and reconstructions built from scratch where no capture is possible.
If you think this stuff is neat why not get in touch?
If you've got a building to record, a site to survey or something to recreate, tell me about it and I'll talk you through the options.
